The Treasures program seeks to honor these special people by having them share their life stories and acknowledging their contributions. It was hoped that other communities would create a similar recognition ceremony.

Living Treasures of Los Alamos held its first public ceremony on April 11, 1999. Twice yearly, in spring and fall, the community is invited to a ceremony held at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. After oral histories have been written and photographs taken, friends, family and colleagues come together to share their memories and offer their appreciation of each Treasure.

Dan Elliott was selected as a Living Treasure of Los Alamos in the Fall of 2004. Living Treasures of Los Alamos Web Site
